A Siesta Ice Breaker

Work with me here!

I was sitting here trying to think of something fun we can do on the blog for this weekend. Ice Breakers came to mind and I typed ice breakers in my search engine and I thought we can do this online. :o)

I also found one that we may have to do in person that would be so funny but I will keep that a secret until then. Kim, remind me to tell you. LOL!!

This Ice Breaker will have to be modified but it is called:

Getting to Know You:

There were a ton of questions given to ask but I am not going to use all of them. Some are silly questions but why don't we loosen up and have fun with it.

  1. If money were no object what would your dream home look like?

  2. If money were no object where would you shop for clothes?

  3. If money were no object where would you like to go on vacation?

  4. If you could go back in time with whom would you like to spend a day with?

  5. If you could be an animal for one day, what would you be and why?

  6. What's the bravest thing you've ever done?

  7. What's the best compliment you've ever received?

  8. What gift have you received that you will always treasure?

  9. If you could have only one favorite food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  10. What's your favorite ice cream flavor?

  11. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

  12. Besides God, who has influenced you the most?

  13. What part of your daily routine do you enjoy the most?

  14. If you won 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?

  15. What's your most fervent prayer?

I think that is all I will ask for now.

Have a great weekend Siestas!!!!

Love,

Patty & Kim

A Siesta Cookbook

Calling all Siestas.

Siesta Holly @ Crown Laid Down and a friend of mine has come up with a great idea. What do you all think about having a Siesta Cookbook?

I have seen some pretty good recipes that you all shared on the LPM Blog and I have tried a few and they have been delicious. Especially the Creamy Chicken Enchiladas.

Holly has offered to compile all the recipes and make our cookbook for us. There will be a small cost for the cookbook but I would love to have recipes from other siestas. I believe Holly will try and have the cookbook completed by the Fiesta.

Get your thinking caps on or your chef's hats as the case may be and think of some yummy recipes you would like to share.

This applies to all the Siestas, whether you are going to San Antonio or not.

Just leave a comment or recipe here or you can email your recipe to Holly HERE.

Thank You Siestas!

Prayer Requests

Good Morning Siestas!!

I have had this on my mind for awhile to start a specific post just for prayer requests. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Sallye emailed me today and asked if I could get a list of the siestas who are not able to attend the fiesta so we could pray for them in San Antonio. Great idea.

There is nothing more important that we could do as a group of Siestas than to pray for each other.

We are working on that special time for those who would like to meet and pray together before the conference starts.

For now, if you have a specific prayer request please leave it in the comments and we will be happy to pray for you. You can leave it anonymously if you need to. If you prefer you may email us your prayer requests. Thank you!

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. Matthew 18:19-20

I will have the link to this post in the sidebar so you can check it or add to it periodically.

SIDENOTE: Please contact me if you sent me an order and did not get email from me yesterday. I apologize for any oversight with your orders. Once you email me, I will send you the email I sent out yesterday. Perhaps I need to be on the top of your prayer list. lol

Love,

Patty & Kim

Siesta Spotlight - Angie

Hello Siestas.
My name is Angie Sellers.
I am a mother to six children.(Paul 17 years old, Alex 16 years old, Samuel 15 years old in July, Maria 12 years old, Joseph 11 years old, and Noah 17 months old)
Five of which I home-school.
The little one is not quite ready for schooling yet, being only 17 months old.

I am married to a wonderful Godly man-Samuel-for the last 16 years in October.
We live in the great state of Texas, in Houston.(we just moved here in January)

I came to Christ after I was married and had 3 children, in November of 1993. I was not raised a believer and struggled for years on what it meant to walk with Christ, Be saved, and live for Him.

I can say the best decision I ever made for my life was to live for Christ. I find myself going through many changes, valleys, and mountain tops all along the way realizing that I am special because He chose me, and loves me.

My greatest, and largest ministry is my children. Being a mother is the most important job for me, aside from being a wife to Sam. I see myself in my children and I pray often that they see Christ in me.

My goal is to see my children in ministry for the Lord, living their lives to further His kingdom, and bringing forth a Godly heritage.
As for outside of my home, well- I am still seeking God on whether I even have a specific calling in my life, other than being a mother and a wife.

I am an outgoing person. I love people, love getting together with Godly women who have wisdom to share.(though I do not get to do that much because I do not know many people here)

I love bible studies, reading, crocheting, photography and sewing. I am a good cook so I pray someday siestas I can bless you with a meal.

Thank you for allowing me to share a bit about myself. May our Lord Jesus continue to bless you!
ANGIE

Latest PJ Party Info...

Hi Siestas,
Thanks for all of your prayers regarding the hotel conference room
Patty and I are trying to secure a room where we can play cards, games, etc on the Saturday night after the conference

I called the Riverwalk Hotel today and spoke with a representative about reserving a conference room

She asked me what I was looking for and I explained that we needed a place for about 50 ladies in their PJs to play games and have pizza

There was a long pause and then she said "OK, let me see what I can do"

She came back and told me there is currently only one room available and the price without food/beverages is - 2800 dollars
and with food/beverages the deposit is 5000 dollars

YIKES!!

I then explained that we were going to be in our PJS and this was not some fancy black tie affair
I also explained that we did not have the money or desire to pay really at all

So here is the deal - she explained that if there is a conference room available on that Saturday August 23rd then we can have the conference room to congregate and fellowship possibly without any fee however NO FOOD or DRINKS allowed

Please continue pray for God's favor in this area because this is one of the things Patty and I were really looking forward to as were so many of you.

However Patty and I have said all along that God has been the One that has given us all of these ideas and He will provide a way

We are BELIEVING GOD to provide this room FEE FREE!!

THANKS SIESTAS - WE LOVE YOU!!!

KIM AND PATTY

FYI.....

Siestas...... I have emailed everyone that sent in shirt and or tote bag orders with payment information. To show you how I roll, somehow Chris Adams from LifeWay who works with the Women's events got an email from me about the shirts/totes and wrote me back saying she has no idea what I am talking about. HOW embarrassing!!! LOL

I should have the shirts/totes in my hands by the end of June!!

85 days and counting and something like 2,051 hours til our event!!!!

Can you just stand it??? Kim and I can't, we are too excited!!

Seriously you all are the best!!!

LPL Wristband for SA

Hi Siestas,
I just received an e-mail from a Siesta that is unable to attend the LPL San Antonio event. She is offering her ticket to any of you that might need one. If you are interested in her ticket please contact her at tamarquis@comcast.net

This is her e-mail:

I have already purchased a wristband for the event in San Antonio but will not be able to attend due to a family obligation. I know that I can get a refund through Lifeway but thought that instead I would see if anyone was looking for one that they could purchase from me instead. I don’t want to make a profit, just sell it for the $55 I purchased it for. I don’t know if it is a sold out event or not but thought to contact you first. Let me know if you are interested in putting it on the blog or if you know of someone already

Siesta Spotlight - Leah

PERSONAL: I am blessed to live in North Georgia in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

My mom and sister and her family live close by as do my in-laws.

I have a wonderful circle of girlfriends who love me in spite of me.

I am married to an awesome man who dated my best friend in high school.
We each married other people then 14 years ago found each other.
God has given us an incredible amount of grace in our marriage and it continues to grow stronger each day.

I am a Sunday school teacher, Women's Ministry director, Bible study leader and lover of Jesus. I have an incredible amount of yuck in my past—all of my own doing. If the prodigal son had a sister, it would be me, but to the praise of HIS glorious grace, the blood of Christ has washed all that away and grace has caused God to remember that no more.

PROFESSIONAL: I went to college at Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy and graduated with my Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1987. I worked at Emory University in Atlanta for 12 years and now that we are back in North GA I worked at a local independent pharmacy two days a week.

PASSION: My passion is teaching the Bible and speaking about Jesus. In late 2007 the Lord encouraged/prodded/pushed me to launch a speaking ministry. After weeks of trying to tell Him that I was afraid I would speak in order to bring glory to myself, He finally got through to me that He would be sure and keep me humble and reminded of the fact that it is all about HIM!! Believe me, He keeps me totally dependant on Him!!

I am part of the fee-free speaking team at Speaking Thru Me Ministries and am honored to be on board with Leigh and Ginger. I am so thrilled to be able to teach God's Word and I consider it a privilege to be able to offer that gift back to Him without a speaking fee incurred by the host church.

I love to speak to ladies groups at churches of all sizes. Recently the message the Lord has laid on my heart is about our legacy as women.

It is a powerful message that has been well received.
Come visit me on my blog at http://www.thepoint-leah.blogspot.com/.

See you at Siesta Fiesta!!

Following LPM in Praying for the Chapman Family

Siestas, I just read Beth's post on the LPM blog concerning the Chapman family and I feel we need to follow their lead and go dark as Beth said, on this blog for three days in a way of setting ourselves in agreement with our LPM siestas. There will be no comments or posts for three days. If God brings this sweet family to mind please pray for them.
I live in the Nashville area and I was shocked to learn through our news that Steven and his wife lost one of their precious adopted girls who was 5 years old in a car accident. I am not going to post any more information on that other than to keep this as a time of intercession for their family.

Thank You,
Kim and Patty

Specific Prayer Request For a Siesta

I decided to just copy Jennifer's request from the comments: With God ALL things are Possible!

Hey Girls!
Thought I would jump in here and ask for prayer. Patty is already praying with me on this, but it occurred to me to get my siestas praying as well! Here is my situation: I have been praying ever since I heard about the LPL event in San Antonio about my going. I am a pastor's wife and stay at home mom. Money is well, a little beyond tight right now, pay check to pay check shall I say! I have given this to the Lord and I know He is able to make a way for me if it is to His glory.I was able to get a ticket through Beth's daughter Amanda. She contacted me about some extras she had. I also have the possibility of a spot in a hotel room. Now, I just need to be able to actually get there. I saw a couple of people who say they are driving. I am in Cape Coral, Florida that's Southwest Florida. I know it's the end of the earth or seems like it some times, but God is able to get me from Florida to San Antonio and I am trusting Him.So, please pray and anyone who knows someone coming from anywhere remotely close to me I would love being connected to them.
Thanks Siestas!!!!!!!!!!!

Pajama Party Ideas

Okay Siestas,

It's time to get some ideas. Kim and I are looking into having a pajama party for a few hours Saturday night after the conference. We are checking into the cost of getting a conference room at the hotel for the p.j. party. Pray for favor!

If it goes as planned, what are some things you would like to do? If I had a karaoke machine we would have a sing off. heehee.... If Bev is reading this, do you have a karaoke machine? ;) We could sing some Sister Sledge, WE are Family....hey hey hey ya'll, I've got all my Siestas with meeee.. that is as good as this girl's singing gets and the dancing isn't much better. We need to do the Cha Cha Slide, chicken dance, the electric slide...

Anyway, what would you like to do???

We thought of ordering pizza and having drinks etc.... and I am sure we need some kind of chocolate or dessert of some kind... :o)

Let us hear your ideas Siestas!!!

Thanks,

Patty & Kim

Siesta Spotlight
Lisa at The Preacher's Wife

Hello, Siestas!

I don't know if there are enough *squeals* or CAPITAL LETTERS or !!exclamations!! to convey how excited I am to be meeting up with you girls at the Fiesta!

The picture I've included is of Patty and me at Nashville's Deeper Still. I knew she was on the Prayer Team and I basically stalked her until I was able to hug her sweet neck in person. I also accosted anyone wearing a lime green shirt because I wanted so much to meet anyone I could lay hands on. The only embarrassing part came in the introductions.

"Hi. I'm Lisa."

"Who?"

"Ummmm. (tentatively and under my breath) The Preacher's Wife?" (I swear I would have thought of a cooler name if I'd known it would become my alias.)

"Oh, yeah, yeah. I think I might remember you. Maybe. Or not? "

Clearly I'm having great impact on the World O'Blog.

Which is why this year I'll be going by BooMama. (Shhhh..she'll never know!)

Oh, I'm kidding. I'm kidding.

ANYWAY, the name recognition thing is just one reason I am so pumped that Kim and Patty have brilliantly decided to do these Siesta Spotlights so we can take a few notes (heck, I'm making an entire notebook) before we meet up.

With all that said, a little more about me:

* My husband, Luke, is a senior pastor. We currently live in North Alabama and have been in ministry 15 years. I praise God every day for rescuing our lives and marriage and then, as the cherry on top, allowing us the honor of serving His Body. If you knew the train wreck that was Us back in the day, you'd still be shaking your head in amazement that we are preacher and preacher's wife. That's okay. We are still laughing, too.

* I have 4 children: 3 boys and a girl ages 12 down to 5. They are feistier than wild cats in a burlap sack but my goodness do they make me want to be better. more. whole.

* I started blogging in February of 2007 after finding LPM's blog and thinking, on a whim I might add, "I believe I'll get me one of those!" Considering I usually start with a bang and end with a whimper (if at all), I had no idea the hobby would stick. I know now that what I thought was a lark was really a leading as evidenced by the next thing....

* I wrote the blog Bible Study, "I AM ~ So you don't have to be." Because of this study I was, through a series of God-ordained 'coincidences', miraculously contacted by a publisher for whom I am currently writing a book tentatively called, "Married to the Ministry ~ Things I Wish Someone Had Told Me." Short of being the wife of a pastor and mother, it's the most wonderfully terrifying thing I've ever done.

* I adore all my imaginary friends (as the hubby calls you) and have found such a wonderful community of women who make me laugh, cry, think, and challenge me to love my God more than ever. Meeting you in real life (which I've done with a few of you now) just seals the deal.

* I'm scared out of my mind to be changing planes in Atlanta and Houston - two airports in which I've never flown in and out of alone. So, if I'm not in San Antonio on Friday night? Send out the search party, 'kay? I'll be the girl whose look screams, "Country Come To Town."

I've rambled long enough so until August........

Ole'!!
(Whatever that means)

Update: I just googled 'Ole'...It means 'excited approval'. Sounds like a Hispanic AMEN to me! Now we'll know how to end our prayers in San Antone!

OLE'!

Siesta Spotlight - Judy

Name: Judy
Age: 42
State: Michigan

1) I am so thankful for my family. God led me to my husband, Kevin, and we have been married for almost 14 years. After struggling with infertility, we are so blessed to have three children. I am amazed at how God used that in our life to bring us closer to Him and to each other. I am so thankful that He allowed me to experience infertility so I may understand and have compassion for others who struggle with such a heartbreaking and lonely path.

2) My favorite things…….my family, girlfriends, bible studies, hot tea, babies, silly kids, watching Sutton play football & baseball, watching Alli play soccer, softball & the piano, watching Emily be silly, sing & twirl, praise music, the last day of school, spring flowers, coconut, dark chocolate, & knowing people who love the Lord with all of their heart

3) After being a stay-at-home mom for 9 years, I now have worked part time as an ophthalmic technician for two years and juggle schedules just like all of you. My husband is an assistant principal at a middle school and helps get kids where they need to be. We are living at the ball fields these days~only 3 more weeks of school!! I love the last day of school~summer~yipee!!

Siesta Spotlight - Sharon

Hey Siestas!

The first picture is of Linda and I. Linda is a good friend and she and I are going to be making this trip to San Antonio together. She is my former pastors wife and we have been good buds for several years now. You have probably seen pictures of her on my blog during one of our fishing trips.

The next picture is of my man and I. Keith and I have been married for nineteen years and have two children. Our oldest is 18 and will be enlisting in the Army Reserve. Julia is 10.......and she is not going anywhere for a LONG time.

So..here is a little something about me.

Name-Sharon

Age-42

State-Louisiana

I. I have been a Christian since I was five. Raised in a Christian household--God has always been a part of my life. But although I enjoyed studying the word and teaching.....He did not really become relationally real until I hit my 30's. God allowed me to spend some time in rebellion. He was very patient.

I spend a little over 7 years going to culinary school and running a fine dinning kitchen. I had success but no joy. God was taking me from being satisfied with a head relationship to being prepared to experience a heart relationship.

I had a lot of knowledge...but I was short on the love relationship. So the prodigal came home and I was in for a ride! It was not long after that..... I found Beth. There were not many women around at the time who had the hunger I did and they even thought I had gone a tad over board. And then I got to know Beth........thank you Jesus! I was not the only abnormal one! :) And there were lots more abnormal women out there too!

2. I have a family that is very important to me. Keith is such a blessing from God for me. No, if you had talked to me several years ago.......I would not have said that. God has done great work in both of our lives. He has blessed our relationship. I would not want to walk this walk with any other. I love my man.

3. We are in a huge transitional phase right now. As I write this we are living in a home that will be home for only a few more weeks. At the end of this month we will become Abram and Sari. We know God is telling us to go......just not where yet. Is it freaking me out just a tad? Oh yes! But, He is faithful! And when this is all over...... may we have found our way also into the Faith Hall of Fame.

I do look forward to see you all face to face. And by then........ I'll be able to say......and here is the rest of the story. :)
Sharon

Siesta Spotlight - Missy

Missy (far left) with her best friend Kaye and Kaye's children

My name is Missy Eury.
I live in N. Myrtle Beach, SC.

When I graduated High School in 1979, I wanted to be a Missionary to a Spanish speaking country. Two years later I decided to be a Physical Therapist. Two years into that I switched to a double major in Special Ed and Recreation. So what do I do now????

I take care of my BFF who is an incomplete quad and her family. We run a non-profit Christian Ministry which includes teaching, retreats, After-School care and Summer Camp.

I accepted the Lord in 1976 while at a Bible Club retreat. There was such a change in my life that my parents thought I had been brain washed and was NOT allowed to attend Bible club or be around any of "THOSE CHRISTIANS"!!! I went from being a HATEFUL, DON'T LIKE ANYONE, SELFISH "WITCH" to being a LOVING SIESTA..........GO GOD!!!

But this got me branded as a "Homosexual". So I picked up my Bible and moved on. I went to Columbia Bible College where I got my teaching credentials. Fell in love and got engaged to a guy who was semi-paralyzed which turned my attention to Physical therapy. Due to his DRUG use, I moved again and went back to tuning my teaching skills and working on Recreation.

In 1992, my best friend Kaye went from being paralyzed to becoming an incomplete quad. At this diagnosis her husband of 32 years decided he did not want to be her "NURSE" anymore and left. She, her 17 year old daughter and I moved to SC.

Today we are all living in the same house...4 generations under the same roof and everything we do is to try to bring GLORY to Him. God has blessed us and we use our home to bring Him praise.

This picture was from this past Christmas. I am the dark haired on the left, Kaye, her daughter Jessica and her 2 kids: Jade (12) and Jacob (10). "Don't worry...those are just stickers- not measles! :)"

Kaye and I are registered for the Fiesta but the Dr. has put Kaye on indefinite BED rest.

*Please pray that she will be able to attend because my trip depends on her healing. So please join me girls!!!!

Hey I have ordered my tee shirt and everything!

BTW- I am NOT a hugger, so you will have to go easy!
LOL--Have a great day!
Missy

Siesta Spotlight - Kaci

Kaci
31 years old
TX

I was blessed to be raised in the church and in the home of parents in the ministry (some parts aren't so much a blessing, but they come with the territory and provide lots of room for learning).

I accepted Christ in November 1985 at the age of 8. While not a rebel as most would relate to that term, I wasn't always passionate about God. He captured my heart the summer after my sophomore year in high school and we've been on a journey since then. I am still a work in progress, but I know He is faithful to finish what He started in me.

God blessed me with a wonderful man who He has used to help shape and mold me in countless ways. We've been married 9 years, and now have 2 beautiful children. They are my miracle and my blessing.

Short version: After being told we had less than 5% chance of conceiving without medical intervention, God proved the odds wrong. Not only do we have 1 child; 19 months later we welcomed our second - both without any assistance! Having two toddlers (almost 3 and 15 months) keeps me busy, but I am thankful I get to stay home with them.

I am definitely in a season of learning about complete and total reliance upon God's strength, wisdom, and creativity. Some days are really long, but the years are already passing too quickly. I am blessed with a gaggle of gals (as I love to call them) that gather each Tuesday night for Bible study and prayer. Their friendships are real - they laugh with me, cry with me, and aren't afraid to call me on the carpet. You gotta love women like that. I realize they are a true gift from God for my soul and sanity.

Other random facts: I am a communication lover - in person, on the phone, via email, whatever- I even spent four years in college studying it! Blogging has become a real hobby, and I love how people get connected through it. I love Sonic cokes, Chili's chips & salsa, and a good steak.

I am a big SEC fan, but I bleed maroon and white for my Alma matter - Mississippi State - and football is my sport of choice. I love to read, but who has time to read with two toddlers?

I'm not even 5' tall... and yes, I really am 31 - no one believes me, but I have the birth certificate to prove it. I'll be in San Antonio with my mom - so look for two people who look like the same person only 28 years apart!

SIESTA SPOTLIGHT~ LEIGH

Leigh Gray
35 years young - hee hee
Living in Illinois, but from many, many places on the map!! Like those places best that have sweet tea without even thinking twice!!

1) Jesus became my Lord and Savior when I was 8, but I fell radically in love with Him in college at 19 or 20 years old. I grew up in the church and have loved God deeply from the word Go. I went to a Christian college - Union, the one that was destroyed in the Tenn. tornados not long ago. Love my Jesus - He is my best friend and I want to follow Him forever and with total abandonment!! He is incredibly awesome and so faithful!

2) I have been married to my hunka-burning-love, Clay, for 14 years - almost. We have 4 kids - Tucker 10, Emmajoy - 8.5, Sarahjane - 7, and Elleigh almost 5. You are right - what was I thinking!! Let me just say - do not choose Ortho Tricycline for birth control!!!!!!!!! We were living in Charlotte, NC for 12 years when the Lord told us to sell everything and Go West young man and woman in 2007! We did! We now live in Southern Illinois where I am faithfully teaching them to drink sweet tea. ha ha! The Lord has worked a number on my husband and I. We are currently seeking the next path of our lives.

3) God called to speak when I was in Junior High at an Al Denson concert. The only speaker I knew of that time was Tammy Faye and I knew I could never wear that much eye liner and mascara. So I didn't tell anyone! God let the secret out and began to call me out of comfort a little more than 5 years ago. I was a speaker and Prayer Ministry Director for Proverbs 31 before He called me to go out on my own. I now am establishing a ministry called Speaking Thru Me. We are a group of speakers that do not have a speaking fee. God challenged me in Jan. 2008 to trust Him and watch Him. I am, we are, and He is! I am shocked at how many churches complain about the fees of speakers these days and then turn around and question our validity and "soundness" because we don't have a fee. Go figure. It is ok - He is faithful and will provide venues! http://www.speakingthrume.com/

4) I am an open book and enjoy being real and vulnerable. I have a huge passion for discipleship! Jesus was authentic and we should be as well. I hope to be leading more and more women to this realization! I love playing sports, not watching! I love playing with my kids, not watching someone else's. ha ha! I love eating out, not watching others eat good food. I love getting emails, not hearing my husbands computer ding because he got one from work. I love being with friends, not hearing about what they did without me. I love a group!! I love a big group. I love group Bible studies. I love ministry. I love church. I love family. I love my dog, Lu Lu. I am learning to love cats. I love life. I love Him!!

I can not wait to meet you all. Please remember that by the time I get to San Antonio - hey, I just forgot, I went to high school for one semester in New Braufels just down the road from San Antonio - my hair will probably much longer and the color is totally up in the air!! Who knows! I am almost 6 foot tall. My motto is - SMILEPLZ!!! Love to all and love to talk off line if you wanted... cletus 104 gmail dot com

Smileplz,

Leigh Gray

wife, mom, speaker, writer
We are blessed, now live like it!!!

Siesta Spotlight- Patty

Hi Siestas!! I guess it's my turn for a Spotlight profile. I am your other blog coordinator. It is an honor and blessing to serve you with my sweet friend Kim. We met at Deeper Still last year and God has formed a friendship between us that keeps growing and growing!! I love how God places the connection between all of us!

Name: Patty
Age: 43 (for 4 more months)
From: Tennessee

1.) I gave my heart to the Lord at age 7. I grew up in church. I would like to say I stayed faithful to God but I didn't and took my own way for awhile. God used my children to bring me back to Him and church when they were babies. I have been in some pits BUT God has delivered me out of them. To Him be all the Glory!!
2.)I am a single mom to two sons. I have been divorced for 11 years. This is the season where I have learned more and more about God. He led me to go deeper with Him in His Word. During this time I was introduced to Beth Moore and her studies. God taught me so much through her studies and Beth taught me to pray and ask God for a passion and a desire for His Word and Him. I did and God answered that prayer. I love God's Word, studying it, reading it, praying it!! I even like the homework in the studies! :o)
3. )Five years ago God healed me from cancer. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in my leg. I was told my leg would have to be amputated. That I would live at the most, five years. God told me different. I can't even begin to tell you about this season. So much happened. If it weren't for God I wouldn't have made it. Period.

4.) Ministry Work. God started me with 2&3 year olds. I refer to this period as learning patience, changing diapers, playdough, singing praise music, coloring Bible pictures and bribing a certain 3 year old with powered doughnuts to keep him from crying because he disliked change. He grew to love me. Praise God for favor. Moved from there to teaching 4 &5 year olds. From there, a youth leader, I refer to this season as a time of Christian rock concerts(Toby Mac, Casting Crowns) field trips to roll another youth leader's yard and NO sleep at youth conferences. Next, Women's Leader, I taught the best group of women. We had the best Sunday school class. We were, are very close, God taught us so much, I taught this class for 4 years. I also counseled women, and led Bible studies. Present time: Since moving we have joined a 5,000 member church and I believe God has me in a season of rest. Preparing for the next journey with Him. I came from a 200 member church to a big church and not really sure where God is taking me next. I spend my time studying God's Word, praying(waiting on God's direction) and managing our house. I also homeschooled my sons.
Hobbies: Enjoy reading and usually have two books going at the same time. I am a BIG college football fan of the SEC. My team, University of Tennessee . Go VOLS! I enjoy traveling and Bible studies and blogging and getting to know you all! I really love being outdoors doing whatever. Last and certainly not least: SHOES. My love language. I can spend hours in a shoe store or Barnes and Noble. Both are fine with me!!
Kim and I are looking forward to reading more about you! Please email us pictures and whatever you want to share about yourself!

This my first born, David. He is 19.
This is Jason. He will be 18 next month.
This is Daisy. She celebrated her 1st birthday in March. She takes me for morning walks.

Siestas

Good Morning my fellow siestas!!!

I just wanted to drop in real quick and let you know I am out of town visiting my parents but I will be home tomorrow and I will email everyone who has written me over the last few days about t-shirt orders and tote bag orders.

We are glad you like the Siesta Spotlight!!! What a fun way to get to know each other better!!

Have a great Tuesday!!

Siesta Spotlight- Kim

Hi everyone,
We are so glad you are enjoying the Siesta Spotlight
We thank Fran for being the first one (she is great isn't she!!)

We have several of you working on your Spotlight but in the meantime I thought I would go ahead and introduce each of you to one of your Siesta Fiesta Blog coordinators - ME

My hubby and I

Connor (my oldest) with shampoo in his hair - they had been playing in the mud so they had to take a shower outside :)

Cole also with shampoo in his hair at the top of our slide about to see how fast shampoo makes him go down the slide!!

I liked Fran's format so I think I will copy it a bit

Name:Kim
Age: 34 yrs old
State: Georgia

1. First of all I am a rescued child of Christ. God has continued to show His abundant mercy and grace in my life. He has freed me of past strongholds that truly gripped my existence for decades. God has allowed me to be used as His light in Women's Ministry and to that I am eternally grateful

2. God has blessed me with a wonderful, kind, patient, and loving husband. The fact that God did not give up on me and continued to place this wonderful man in my path until I finally "got it" was truly a miracle. Some day I will have to tell you the comedic and God ordained wonderful way my hubby and I met :) UPDATED TO ADD THE STORY OF HOW WE MET (thanks Holly for the suggestion) here

3. I have been blessed with 2 little boys. I always dreamt of having 2 boys and 2 girls however if you had asked me which I would have preferred it always would have been boys. They make me laugh my head off. I lose track of time when I am with them b/c we are having such a good time. I have never seen little boys who love mud as much as mine and it just makes me smile (see above photos)

4. I have wonderful, family, friends, and SIESTAS that make me laugh. They add encouragement and prayers without fail. They are a wonderful source of info, advice, and love

SIESTAS we only have 110 more days!!

I can not wait to hug all of you in person (b/c like Fran - that is what I do - he he)

God bless,

Kim

Siesta Spotlight - Fran

Siestas,
Patty and I have listened to several of your suggestions about having the opportunity to "meet" and get to know one another before the event

We have decided to start a fun new segment called the "Siesta Spotlight"

It is a way to "introduce" each of the Siestas to one another
We thought we could have a Siesta write a profile about herself along with a picture so we can put a name to a face

We are going to be doing a few of these a week until the Siesta Fiesta
I am hoping we can eventually SPOTLIGHT all of you that have registered :)

The first one is FRAN

Coming from the South...I have to say what I always say and that would be a "Hey Ya'll!" and then I would give you a hug....because that's what I do.

A few things to say about myself....and let me just say how strange this is for me....but, I love Kim and Patty so much and they asked so I'll do anything for them!

OK....1st the stats and then I'm doing a list...

Fran

38 yrs old

TN

1. I'm a rescued child of God. Rescued from years of pit dwelling and a life that was chock full of sin. He has done a complete 360 with my heart and mind. He's simply amazing to me. He is the ultimate Savior!

2. I'm wife to the most handsome and funny man on this planet. His real name is Billy, but we all call him, "Chip!"

3. I'm mom to 3 of the most amazing boys you'll ever meet.....other than your own! And...boys get a bad rap I think. They aren't that wild and not that much of a hand full and they aren't that busy. HA! They grow up and settle down and become young men that love their momma's deeply. It's so much fun to watch them grow into these young men! Pray for all of our sons....one day they'll marry your daughters! :)

4. I work at my church. I'm the Director of Children and Family Ministries. I pour out my heart into these children and their parents. There is nothing on planet Earth that gives me greater joy than to see a child or parent "get" Jesus!! Makes me cry every time!

5. Lastly, I'm addicted to family, Starbucks coffee, reality TV ( I know), friendships, blogging, and BIBLE STUDY!!!

I absolutely cannot wait to meet all of you in August! Its gonna be a complete thrill for me to hug you, get to know you, and see these hearts in person that I've grown to completely love!! Y'all are simply beautiful children of God and He radiates through you!!

Keep at it!! See ya in San Antonio! WOO-HOO!!!!

Hugs and blessings~Fran

I Need to Brag on You a Bit

Good Morning Siestas!

I wanted to take a moment and tell you all how sweet you are!!

All of your emails have been sweet and encouraging and thank you to those who have offered to help in anyway you can!!

Thank you for your orders and I must say we are going to look to cute in our shirts. :o)

Amanda mentioned lunch boxes on the LPM blog. Kim and I will take orders for that soon. We are only going to have an hour to eat after the conference and before the reception and I think we are going to need a lot of energy at the reception so we need to eat something!

Amanda, if you are reading this, thank you for the time you are putting into the Siesta Fiesta!!! We appreciate you more than you know!!

We have some other things we will email you about that you can help us with.

Also, to repeat again, Kim will be making the name tags for all of us. She has a great idea and we will share that as soon as possible.

If you haven't emailed us your contact information please do so, we don't want anyone left out. Some have had problems emailing me and I am sorry. I am not sure what has been the problem. I will list all the ladies who have ordered shirts and or tote bags and please make sure I haven't left you out.

I think that is it for now. Know that Kim and I are praying for you. It is an honor to minister to you and pray for you and help in anyway that we can. If you have any questions please email us and we will get back to you immediately.

OH, we are starting something fun this week. Come back Monday to see what it is!!

Have a great Saturday!!

Other Options

Someone asked if we could put the header on the tote bag. I would love to but they won't let me. I can only have 4 colors and this exceeds 4 colors. I am sorry! Siestas!! I have some good news. I called the company where we are getting the shirts and they will let us order the shirt in lime green or white or the pink below.

SO, I promise this will be the last options and I am sorry for any confusion.

IF you want lime green, or white instead of the pink listed below let me know!! Remember to give me your size and quanity.

The sizes are : S-XXL

Have a great evening.

Patty

UPDATE: Prices will depend on the quanity. For example, the tote bag, if the quanity is 40 the bag will cost 7.37, quanity of 20, 9.72, I don't see the bag being more than 9.72. Pass the word and see if we can get 50 @ 6.87 a bag!! For the shirt: At the most $14.95 plus a few dollars for postage so I can mail them to you.

The Siesta Fiesta t-shirt, blog was taken out! We have the header w/San Antonio and the date of the conference.

We have a final t-shirt and tote design for the Siesta Fiesta! YIPPEE!

We had to change the tote bag because the other one was a mini-tote and was too small.

We hope you like them and if you are interested in ordering the T and/or tote please e-mail patty (check the sidebar for her e-mail address)

She will need your t-shirt size as well as your mailing address (she wants to mail you the shirt unless you want to pick it up at the conference)

Have a Blessed Day Siestas!

Kim

Where is Everyone Staying?

It's me again! Everyone is wanting to know where everyone is staying.

Where are you staying? Inquiring minds want to know! :o)

Kim and I are staying at the Marriott Riverwalk/Rivercenter.

Your turn ladies!

Siestas!

Thank you to all who have commented! You all are a blast!!

To answer a few questions. We designed shirts last year for the Siestas who went to the Deeper Still conference. I ordered the shirts and had them shipped to my house and then I mailed the shirts to each siesta.

If I mail them to you I will include in the price of the shirt/tote bag, plus postage. OR, if you would rather pick them up in San Antonio we can do that.

Also, I would like to order the t-shirts and tote bags by next month. I want to make sure everyone gets them in time.

Someone mentioned name tags. Kim and I are going to make sure each siesta has a name tag!

Some have mentioned having our header on the shirt. I tried that but I just wasn't sure of having BLOG on the shirt. Also, with that many colors the price would be very expensive. I will do what I can and let you all know.

We have something really fun coming next week. :o) Stay tuned!!

A lot are asking about where everyone is staying. If you don't care to share that information then maybe we can do a post about that.

Kim and I are so excited to meet you all!!! God is so good to bless us with this opportunity.

Kim and I have prayed and are praying about the details. I give ALL the credit to Almighty God!! He gives us the ideas , the creativity.

I am also praying for those who want to come but cannot because of financial reasons. God make a way where there seems to be no way!! ALL things are possible with God!!

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. {Numbers 6:24)

Love,
Patty and Kim
