Please, let us hear what you are trying in your homes and with your families and friends in the comments!
It's funny that I spent so much time putting it together and cooked nary a thing from it during those 2 1/2 months this past summer. But as I went through each page, I kept thinking, "Oooo, can't wait to try this one!"
It is such a blast to finally be eating the fruits of our labor. Truly, y'all have the best recipes in here. You must be wonderful cooks!
On Sunday we made Melissa and Amanda's Uncle Wayne's White Winter Chili (Link to this recipe here). It is my very favorite, spicy soup of the season. IN FACT, you can thank Uncle Wayne for the cookbook idea. I know I searched for his recipe at least 4 or 5 times on the LPM Blog over the past year. And in my desire to find the recipe in an easier and more efficient way, I thought, "We need these recipes in a cookbook." So thank you Uncle Wayne! Your chili is delicious, too!!
For supper tonight, we tried Cinde James' (The Barefoot Seamstress') North Woods Bean & Sausage Soup (pictured below). Everyone loved it! Even my oh-so-picky-Mr.-Chris. That's saying a lot. It was a delightfully warm and soothing fall fare! I had to substitute a couple of different beans for the northern beans, because I only had butter beans and white beans in my pantry. It was still delicious.
If you are a lover of comfort foods, like me, Joanne Heim's (The Simple Wife's) Zucchini Bread (pictured at the very top in the fall basket) is delightful!! She made some for me and Meredith last fall and shared a nice care package with me a few weeks back, when I headed to the Siesta Fiesta. It is so tasty!
Finally, Angela Cottrell's Strawberry Cake is the best I have ever tasted! I believe there is cake in Heaven just like this--and the angels use Angela's recipe. We made it for Sydney's second birthday on August 25th. Didn't my Chris decorate it beautifully? Since the strawberries for this recipes are from the frozen section of your local market, this cake can be made and enjoyed year round.
See this on my dining room table? I sent out 100 cookbooks last week with the help of Meredith (Life at 7000 Feet) and Su from Colorado. I tell you these Siestas of ours are the best, servant-hearted ladies on the planet! Please give Him praise with me for them.
Not only that, but I have even had two sweet siestas tell me that I mailed extras to them when they had already picked their cookbooks up at the Siesta Fiesta. Both of them were the sweetest and kindest ladies to me, when I made this mistake. I am so thankful that this group of Siestas looks so much like Jesus. Yes, they do! I praise Him for you, dear ones!!
On Monday, I'm receiving an order in of 200 more cookbooks. Would you like one? Email me at chrishollysmith at msn dot com. I have a feeling word is going to get out amongst your Bible studies and areas. Please help spread the word, 'cause we are just so close to the first water well, that I hope we make it to two! 'Makes me so glad-hearted for those children!! I can see them joyfully receiving the gift in my mind's eye already.

It's Tuesday and I made the killer nachos. And it worked. I mean we are all still alive but it did get some unbelievable comments --- like this was the best nachos ever! I did add the ground beef and onions! Woohoo Melissa! THANKS!!! Page 2 of the cookbook or maybe it's page 1. Holly, thank you from the bottom of our hearts and stomachs for providing such great recipes in such a beautiful format! Love the size, the feel, and the content! And to know who it's from makes blogging all the more meaningful.
I love, love my cookbook. I have tried:
Beth and Keith's King Ranch Chicken (yummy),
BooMama's Granite Steps Coffee Cake (my Bible study siestas loved it),
Meghan at spicymagnolia.com's Colorful Black Bean Salad ( what a wonderful fresh, healthy salad!!, Alexia at alexia-savedbygrace Pinapple Cheese Ball which was excellent for an appetizer or even spread on a bagel for breakfast!!
Holly, thank you again for doing the cookbook. I'm ordering 3 more to give as gifts.
I try to email or leave a comment on the person's blog when I try one of their recipes. I know I would love hearing from someone who tried one of mine!!
Leah
Oooh yum, I'll be back to order one of those!

It is nice to know that I do have something started when it comes to Christmas. :)
I haven't done any cooking from my cookbook yet....only because I am trying to not have a whole lot hanging around right now. Once Keith gets back...things will change.

Holly - I love my cookbook as a matter of fact since the Cowboys did not play last Sunday I spent most the afternoon after church reading recipes and marking recipes I want to try from the Siesta Cookbook. I read them out loud to my husband and we talked about them and have chosen some to try as the weather changes in Texas. Holly thanks for all your effort to put the cookbook together.

Hey Holly,
I just received my two cookbooks in the mail yesterday! Thanks so much. I will shamelessly copy a few of them (those with 5 ingredients or less so I don't stress out) and then pass them on to my "cooking friends" as birthday gifts. I'm sure if needed, they will let me borrow them back. Or maybe I'll just make requests :) Thanks again,
Cindy
This week, I made Keysha's Crock Pot Pork Loin. It was very simple and delicious. Also, Rachel Callahan's Tea Cakes were the perfect solution when I did not have time to run to the store. I already had everything I needed in pantry to make these yummy cookies.
I am going to make potato soup this weekend along with cornbread. I will need some of that comfort food when my football team plays Florida Gators. lol
I want to try another dessert and when I decide I will comment on which one I made.
Ya'll have a great night!
Okay I made Sophie's "Crasian Apple French Toast casserole" for an office breakfast Monday. Oh my word it was soooo gooooood. Yummy! and so fallish (Is that a word?) and easy too. You girls need to make this the next time you have a group to cook for. You make it the night before and just through it in the oven the next morning!
Thanks Sophie
My husband tells the kids "Moms been cooking recipes out of her new cookbook again!" whenever I serve something new. He's enjoying the new recipes!
I've made:
Melissa's Roasted Chicken Breast p.151
Chicken Fester Syle- Jeanette p.113
Carol's Easy Chicken Bake p.126
ALL yummy recipes!
You ladies are killing me! I am dying to try all these recipes, but am stuck in a hotel (since 8-13 and it looks like we'll be here until at least the middle of Oct.) waiting for our new home to be finished! These dishes ALL sound fantastic and relatively simple. I'm lovin' post-it notes--they're marking all your recommeded selections to try when we're settled.
The comments about the recipes really help when deciding whether to try one for lunch, dinner, light lunch or big crowd. Thanks for the input!
I wonder if Amanda has a recipe for anything PINK--isn't that awesome! She'll be the best dressed little princess!
