Siesta Spotlight- Patty

Hi Siestas!! I guess it's my turn for a Spotlight profile. I am your other blog coordinator. It is an honor and blessing to serve you with my sweet friend Kim. We met at Deeper Still last year and God has formed a friendship between us that keeps growing and growing!! I love how God places the connection between all of us!

Name: Patty
Age: 43 (for 4 more months)
From: Tennessee

1.) I gave my heart to the Lord at age 7. I grew up in church. I would like to say I stayed faithful to God but I didn't and took my own way for awhile. God used my children to bring me back to Him and church when they were babies. I have been in some pits BUT God has delivered me out of them. To Him be all the Glory!!
2.)I am a single mom to two sons. I have been divorced for 11 years. This is the season where I have learned more and more about God. He led me to go deeper with Him in His Word. During this time I was introduced to Beth Moore and her studies. God taught me so much through her studies and Beth taught me to pray and ask God for a passion and a desire for His Word and Him. I did and God answered that prayer. I love God's Word, studying it, reading it, praying it!! I even like the homework in the studies! :o)
3. )Five years ago God healed me from cancer. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in my leg. I was told my leg would have to be amputated. That I would live at the most, five years. God told me different. I can't even begin to tell you about this season. So much happened. If it weren't for God I wouldn't have made it. Period.

4.) Ministry Work. God started me with 2&3 year olds. I refer to this period as learning patience, changing diapers, playdough, singing praise music, coloring Bible pictures and bribing a certain 3 year old with powered doughnuts to keep him from crying because he disliked change. He grew to love me. Praise God for favor. Moved from there to teaching 4 &5 year olds. From there, a youth leader, I refer to this season as a time of Christian rock concerts(Toby Mac, Casting Crowns) field trips to roll another youth leader's yard and NO sleep at youth conferences. Next, Women's Leader, I taught the best group of women. We had the best Sunday school class. We were, are very close, God taught us so much, I taught this class for 4 years. I also counseled women, and led Bible studies. Present time: Since moving we have joined a 5,000 member church and I believe God has me in a season of rest. Preparing for the next journey with Him. I came from a 200 member church to a big church and not really sure where God is taking me next. I spend my time studying God's Word, praying(waiting on God's direction) and managing our house. I also homeschooled my sons.
Hobbies: Enjoy reading and usually have two books going at the same time. I am a BIG college football fan of the SEC. My team, University of Tennessee . Go VOLS! I enjoy traveling and Bible studies and blogging and getting to know you all! I really love being outdoors doing whatever. Last and certainly not least: SHOES. My love language. I can spend hours in a shoe store or Barnes and Noble. Both are fine with me!!
Kim and I are looking forward to reading more about you! Please email us pictures and whatever you want to share about yourself!

This my first born, David. He is 19.
This is Jason. He will be 18 next month.
This is Daisy. She celebrated her 1st birthday in March. She takes me for morning walks.

Patty,
It is nice hearing about each persons life. God is the Great Healer, whether spiritual or physical. And everything is according to his perfect will.
Thank you for being an example of serving God no matter what!

I have chills about your cancer story--will you please tell me all about it in San Antonio? I want to hear it straight from you!

Wow! I indeed thank my God every time I remember you, Patty!! Thank you Jesus for Patty. Thank you.

So we just send something to you about ourselves--you don't send us an email to tell us it's our turn and what to say?

Well you don't look old enough to have kids that old. My 19 year old is the one getting married in two weeks and I look like I could be YOUR mom. What a neat spotlight, Patty! God is so good.

It was so nice to meet you today!

What a story you have to tell! Praising God that you're here to tell it.

It sounds like you enjoy being involved in your church, as do I. There's nothing I like to do more!

Love,
Darlene

Wow! Did you homeschool your sons all the way through school? I'm currently finishing up my first year with my two older girls (K and Pre-K). It had it's ups and downs because we added a third daughter to the group last October. I love the flexibility and freedom it provides! Did you have a favorite curriculum? I'm currently using Sonlight.

Thank you so much for sharing about yourself! I love the Siesta spotlight!!

Have an awesome Mother's Day weekend!

Hey, Patty! You are a joy and blessing to me. I can see how you minister so well to women at your church, as you do here. Can't wait for August to know you for "real," though I already know a sweet, sweet heart. Happy Mother's Day, my friend. Love, Annette

This is so fun getting to know everyone! Patty, I too am a football fan. GO BUCKS! (Sorry, Big Ten) We seem to do pretty well each year but for those of you who are also football fans you'll notice we just can't seem to win another championship.

From one former pit dweller to another...ain't God just so good! Wow! What would we ever do without Him.

Hi Patty,

I'm late responding to your spotlight...girl, you and I need to TALK. I shared on another post about moving and I went through the same tiny-to-giant church transition. REST in Him...I can tell you from experience that He will start chatting you up in ways you've never heard before.

Can't wait to hug your neck!
